Well Baby Exams: Most pediatric dentists recommend that children be seen starting at one year of age. Don't expect to have your baby's teeth cleaned though. One and two year visits are designed to familiarize parents with their child's emerging needs. The dentist will also be able to determine if the teeth are developing normally. Most children are ready for their first "official" dental visit at around three years of age. Keep your expectations low, however, and try to ensure that your child's first dental visit is a positive and rewarding experience. Remember, you can always bring them back later to finish the cleaning, but a bad first impression of a doctor or dentist can stick with them for many years.
